Has anything really changed in the American Temperament? Is hatred and incivility something new? Haven't our Legislators literally bashed each other's brains out with cans on the floor of Congress before? Aren't we still reluctant to provide Women full Citizenship? Aren't the only good immigrants our own family's ancestors? Aren't the members of our Religious Sect the only ones going to Heaven? Don't many of us still, in their hearts, believe negroes are worth two-thirds of a human being, as the Constitution states (the Republicans didn't read that part the other day at the opening of Congress). Will any of this stop while bleeding still leads and 'news' ratings still go to the loudest shouter?
